Sculpting the Human Bust (1 of 2)

  • InterUrban ArtHouse 8001 Newton Street Overland Park, Kansas 66204 (map)

Come out and learn to sculpt the human bust with Glenn Lavezzi. Glenn has been sculpting for over 20 years and is a member of the Portrait Society of America. His works vary from realistic busts and figurative pieces to fantastical whimsical works.

During these two three-hour sessions the students will learn to sculpt a proportional and realistic human bust using water-based clay built upon wooden armatures. Students will learn to create the basic structures of a head using geometric shapes. To help ensure the students can create a realistic bust they will learn which measurements are essential in order to keep their bust looking proportional. Students will learn to sculpt the hair, eyes, nose, mouth, as well as the ears. Students will learn the techniques used by sculptors to differentiate the masculine and the feminine, as well as different ethnicity.

The class cost $200 and includes:

Teacher fee for 2x3 hour session

25 lbs of clay (kept by students)

Wooden armature (kept by students)

Handouts (kept by students)

Use of Instructor's Sculpture Tools (only for during class use)
