February 16th 2024: Born to Fill dance performance

Dancer and choreographer Kaitlyn Gardner produced and performed this ensemble piece specifically for our Her Art / Their Art exhibition, which centers work by women and non binary femme artists. The piece is commentary on living and being perceived as a woman in today’s society.

Gummy Vitamins

July 29 2022 - Gummy Vitamins Performance: Vitamin T: Thaw

A multidisciplinary performance, sponsored and produced in partnership with No Divide KC, a local queer performance organization, and 5 queer artists. Thaw was about melting the false narratives placed upon queer folks and illuminated the feelings that result when one can express oneself fully.  Featured Artists:  Jackob Graves (sculptor), Stephonne Singleton (singer), Jordan Kaya (dancer), Benjamin Hart (guitarist), and Rye Lanae Boothe (poet and producer). Presented as part of our Queer Experience exhibition.

Mixed Feelings

Mixed Feelings is a new one-act script written and directed by Christina Foltz. Description: Brone has never known joy and Gale has never gone through grief. The two meet and through a series of tests try to teach each other what it is like to feel these different ways. The lessons are accompanied by dance, song, and poetry. Orígenes is a music and dance timeline about the origins and development of Flamenco from medieval to modern times.

Guitarist/Oud Player Beau Bledsoe, Singer Antonio Rojas, Cellist Ezgi Karakus, Percussionist John Currey and Flamenco Dancer/Choreographer Melinda Hedgecorth shared stories and history with projected images and live music/dance. 

Presented as part of our Tangled Roots Multicultural Exhibition

Thrive Health Connection produced a fashion show with local designers and performers.

Iskay

Iskay is a South American Duo made up of Amado Espinoza (Bolivia) and Pedro Calderon (Peru) will perform as part of our "Arts Across the Ages" program.

One of the many goals of this grant program is to make the arts accessible, regardless to age or income, to residents of Overland Park.
