In person sessions will be very informal and designed as an open art studio format. Participants will be given their art supplies and can find a comfortable place in the building to make art and share with one another and the facilitator. Participants who don’t safe in public spaces can pick up a kit and watch a short video for instructions on how to execute various projects.
Sessions will be facilitated by IUAH’s in house clinician, Sherri Jacobs. Sherri is a registered art therapist and licensed clinical marriage and family therapist.

TIME
Participants will make personal triptychs using collage material to explore a “bigger” picture than the present moment. With each life cycle event or shift in life stages, time is often the thing we need to contend with. This session incorporates the creative process to help us own the construct of time in a meaningful way. Collage is an easy avenue for self-expression. Precut magazine images will serve as the medium with a past/present/future theme.

RESILIENCE
Resilience might have a bad rap as a topic that is a bit too “much” in our overzealous attempts and encouragement to be perfect or try harder to not be overwhelmed by our modern lives. Today’s workshop will offer participants offer updated, concrete ideas related to resilience in our era of decision fatigue, pandemic fatigue, etc. Resilience will be explored with small journals and writing/drawing materials pre-loaded with prompts, art therapy exercises and inspiration.

PERSPECTIVE
Today’s workshop will explore ideas of perspective with the neurobiological principles of vision and perception. Incorporating concepts from Visual Thinking Strategies, participants will practice shifting perspectives with a hands-on art exercise. The newer and very cutting edge emerging scientific revelations on art and science add a radical element to truly incorporating perspective into our creative lives. Participants will be given small canvases and acrylic paint to create small masterpieces.

CONQUERING CREATIVE BLOCKS
Creative blocks are a normal part of the artistic journey. Learning new tasks to overcome them can be empowering and always leads to further growth in our chosen creative endeavors. This session will explore the essence of creativity from a fresh lens, as the latest research on the topic is offering new ideas for inspiration and concrete ideas for creative breakthroughs in our work. Participants will create small amulets to represent their “inner spark.”
