As part of our LGBTQ+ showcase Exhibition: the Queer Experience, join us as we delve into the perspectives and histories that make up our local queer and trans communities. Through different forms of expression, (spoken word, song, and historical accounts) panelists will share their stories and discuss how their experiences are indicative of the state of queer culture, past and present. Audience members are encouraged to participate and ask questions via the FB Live chat.
Your Presenters:
Mitchell King: Poet, author, educator, and your MC for the evening
Jade Green: Singer/songwriter and one half of the darkpop hip-hop duo The Black Creatures, who often incorporate social commentary into their performances.
Joss Barton: Trans poet, journalist, public speaker, and spoken word artist
Stephonne Singleton: Actor, drag performer, and singer / songwriter
David Wayne Reed: Actor, theater producer, filmmaker, and public speaker. He also serves as the Municipal Arts Commissioner for the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
Merique Jenson: Trans documentarian, cultural competency consultant, anthropologist, and Director of Programming for Transformations, a trans and gender - expansive youth group.
