Please join Art Heals for monthly drop in sessions designed for caregivers and their loved ones dealing with issues related to aging and memory loss. Each session will offer an art history lesson relating to a specific artist, and an opportunity to create art relating to the featured artist. These sessions do not require any previous art experience. Art therapist, Sheri Jacobs has worked as an art therapist with the elderly population for twenty years.
Henri Matisse, a French, post-impressionist painter, was well known for his paper cuts and collages created later in his life. When his physical health prevented him from continuing to paint masterpieces, he continued to create, and his later work truly defined him as an artist. Learn about his life and quest to be creative, despite his physical limitations. Today’s session will offer an experiential art making to create a “Matisse-like” collage.
$10.00 cover charge per person to cover costs of materials.
